African Baobab's school children

Jen, a school program success!

Children connect with each other in ways that adults can not. Through our school program, we have opened the channel of communication between two groups of children that allows them to share experiences, both unique and common, and make a life-changing difference.

Recently, a gift from the students of a school in Needham, MA have made a big difference in the life of one young woman in our Ugandan village. Jen lives at the Community Center with the family that is African Baobab's hosts and partners. Jen is now around 15 and has been an orphan since age seven when her parents died of AIDS.

The residents of the Community Center took her in. She has been living as part of a family and has been in school until this past winter when she did not pass essential tests to continue on. The gift from the students has allowed Jen to go to trade school now. She is very happy to have her life back and continue her education. She takes great pride in her skills and wants us to thank the students on her behalf.
